STEVE & CAROLYN CHULICK BIO
Steve: I was born in St. Louis, MO on November 17, 1955. I grew up in Oakville, MO and attended St. Francis of Assisi Grade School. I attended Mehlville High School (class of 1974) and graduated from Ranken Technical College in St. Louis. I worked at the Warner-Jenkinson Company in St. Louis for 23 years before resigning to join Global Messenger Service and move to India.
I enjoy sports and thank God for ESPN International. They broadcast Major League Baseball, NFL Football and NBA Basketball into India. I was able to follow the St. Louis Cardinals through the playoffs and watch them win the 2006 World Series. I also enjoy Tuesday Morning Football. That’s when Monday Night Football is televised in India. I set my alarm to wake up on time, make coffee and watch the game.
My favorite movie is “The Great Race” and my favorite television show is “Green Acres”. In fact, the show’s theme song is the ring tone for my cell phone. My favorite restaurant is the “The Pasta House Company” and my favorite dish is Ravioli with Meat Balls.
Carolyn: I was born in Philadelphia, PA on April, 19, 1953. My family moved to St. Louis when I was a little girl. I attended St. Jude Grade School and graduated from Mercy High School in 1971. I began working at Washington University Medical Center in 1975 and stayed there 18 years before moving to a part-time job with Jack Harris Global Ministries. I was there nearly 3 years before we moved to India.
I enjoy doing hand embroidery, paper crafts, quilting and many other kinds of crafts. I like watching old movies on the classic movie channels such as TCM. I love music and Hillsong videos are special favorites especially for worship time. I also love gadgets such as the smallest MP3 player with the smallest speakers, my pen that is also a USB flash drive and of course my Treo 650. I use the extras that came with it more than the cell phone – you get the idea. Besides my family, what I miss most about home is the change of seasons.
Steve and Carolyn: We were married in St. Louis on September 26, 1981. We enjoy traveling, especially on a cruise. Our favorite cruises so far have been Panama Canal and Alaska. Our favorite place in the world other than home is Singapore.
Steve: I am the oldest of five children. My mother, brother and three sisters all reside in the St. Louis area.
Carolyn: I am the second oldest of nine children. My mother, six brothers and younger sister all reside in the St. Louis area. My older sister resides in Texas.
Steve and Carolyn: We especially enjoy being with our families whenever we return to St. Louis for a visit. A few years ago we planned a trip home in July and asked our families if we could celebrate Thanksgiving complete with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings.
While we were enjoying the feast prepared for us one of Carolyn’s brothers told us that we should have asked to celebrate Christmas. When we asked why, he explained that we still would have had a delicious turkey dinner plus Christmas gifts. We learned a valuable lesson from him that year.
